TEACH LogoWelcome to T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood®

T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education And Compensation Helps) is a national program created by Child Care Services Association in North Carolina in 1990 to address critical issues in the Early Childhood field such as education compensation and retention. T.E.A.C.H. Delaware began in 2006 and in 2009 Delaware Association for the Education of Young Children (DAEYC) became the licensed administrative home for T.E.A.C.H.

T.E.A.C.H. provides scholarships for:
  • Associate Degree
  • Early Childhood Education Director's Certificate
  • CDA (Child Development Associate Credential)
  • Bachelor Degree ( starting August 2010)

About T.E.A.C.H.

T.E.A.C.H. has four components:

Education:   T.E.A.C.H. scholars are required to complete between 9-18 college credits in one year.
Scholarship:  T.E.A.C.H. provides 80% reimbursement for tuition and books for the AA and ECE Director's Certificate scholarships. For the CDA an 85% reimbursement is provided for the assessment fee. The BA model provides a stipend to be used for tuition/books.
Compensation:  After successful completion of each contract (certain scholarship models only) T.E.A.C.H. scholars are eligible to receive a bonus/raise. Sponsoring centers choose which option is best for them.
Commitment:  T.E.A.C.H. scholars agree to remain with their sponsor or in the field (whichever applies) for one year after every contract.
Eligibility:  Child care center staff who work in licensed programs and Level 2 family child care providers who work at least 30 hours a week and earn less than $15.00 per hour. Other eligibility requirements may apply.
